Micromax A116 Canvas 3 HD

The Micromax A116 has followed up on its predecessor the A110’s success and has established itself as a definite hit among users. The phone packs powerful features at a price of just around ₹15,000. It features a quad-core processor, a high resolution five inch screen, and runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

This Dual SIM phone also comes with an 8MP camera at the rear and a 2MP front camera. It also has 4GB storage built in and 1GB RAM. The microSD slot allows a storage extension of up to 32GB.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and is an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device, though the OS is upgradable to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). With 4GB of built-in memory (which is expandable up to 32GB), the device comes with 768MB RAM.


It has a 460 x 800 pixel 4 inch touch screen, and is a Mini SIM, dual standby model. It has a 5MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. It is a 3G device with a microUSB port, and is Wi-Fi enabled, with an additional GPS feature too. The approximate price of this model is ₹ 14,714.
HTC Desire V

This dual SIM device from HTC is a lightweight, thin Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device, with 4GB of storage space (expandable up to 32GB) and 512MB RAM. It runs on a Cortex A5 processor, and supports 2G connectivity on both SIMS, with 3G available on only one.


The device has a 5MP camera, a microUSB slot, and the user experience is enhanced by HTC’s Sense 4.0 UI. The device is priced at ₹ 14,265.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos

This is quite a new offering from Samsung. It runs on a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor, and is a 3G Jelly Bean device (Android V4.1). It comes with built-in storage of 8GB (expandable up to 64GB) and 1GB RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos has an 8MP autofocus and LED flash enabled rear camera and a 2MP front camera. It is a Mini SIM dual standby phone, with a microUSB port and Wi-Fi connectivity. Its design resembles that of Galaxy Note II, and the phone features a sleek and slim build. It costs around ₹ 21,000.

Sony Xperia E Dual

The Sony Xperia E Dual is a 3G dual SIM phone, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor. It runs the Android Jelly Bean OS and has a 3.5” capacitive touch screen, with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution.

It has 4GB of internal storage, with a MicroSD card slot allowing an extension of up to 32GB. The phone also has 1GB of RAM. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, a microUSB slot, and a 3.5MP rear camera. This device is priced at ₹14, 500.


Customers now have a lot of choices while buying dual SIM mobile phones because what was once a niche and low-end category served only by the local manufacturers is now moving into the mainstream phone market.

Initially, only the local companies served this market, but once the big multinational corporations realized the market potential, they have started releasing dual SIM models even in the smartphone category.

In a price conscious market like India, the advantages offered by such dual SIM phones make them very attractive to customers.  Due to the interest shown by major companies, there are a wide range of features and choices in this category too, so interested individuals can pick up dual SIM phones for ₹ 5,000 - ₹ 15, 000 depending on the functionality that they want from their device.
