May 1 is the deadline set by Apple for app developers, after which the Cupertino-based giant will not accept any new app submissions  that  that access a device’s Universal Device ID (UDID) or do not support  the Retina Display or the 4-inch display on the iPhone 5.
In the notice issued by the company, it says.
Starting May 1, the App Store will no longer accept new apps or app updates that access UDIDs. Please update your apps and servers to associate users with the Vendor or Advertising identifiers introduced in iOS 6.

Starting May 1, new apps and app updates submitted to the App Store must be built for iOS devices with Retina display and iPhone apps must also support the 4-inch display on iPhone 5.
The move to not accept accept apps that access UDIDs comes after security concerns raised over them, as UDIDs can be used to identify users and transmit sensitive information to third parties. UDID (Universal Device ID) is a 40-digit sequence of letters and numbers and have been quite prominent with ad networks and to counter this, Apple had started banning the apps that were using UDIDs.
However, Apple did work a way out for this in iOS 6, wherein the company introduced the Advertising Identifier but allowed the users to users to limit ad tracking on their devices by adjusting it in settings.
Other than apps asking for UDIDs, Apple will also not allow new app requests that do not support the bigger, 4-inch display on the iPhone 5 and the apps which do not support the Retina Display on iOS devices, won’t be allowed as well.
