Some users may not be aware of different Android features like facial recognition, swiping instead of typing and other helpful shortcuts. You may know about different features, but some of the most useful features of Google operating system may not be in plain view. I’ve managed to come up with some of the useful tricks to make your Android experience more enjoyable and easier. Let’s find out how you can make your Android smarter.
Facial Recognition
Instead of typing in a PIN or tracing a pattern on the screen, you can unlock your phone by simply staring on the front-facing camera for one second. It is really fun to use though it doesn’t always work and it is not as secure as other methods. In order to set this go to Settings > Security > Screen Lock > Face Unlock. You can even set a backup pattern or PIN.
Easier Typing
Hold the period key to avoid switching from letter keyboard of Android to its symbol and number keyboard. On the menu slide your finger and select the right key by lifting it. Don’t lift your finger often if you don’t want to tap on the glass in order to type on the virtual keyboard. Most of the Android devices come with Swype, which is one of the best virtual keyboards. It is extraordinarily accurate.
Manage Screens
Widgets and app icons can be organized very well on numerous Home screens. You can remove or rearrange these screens in two ways. One of the ways is to swipe from right to left to reach to the last screen, then hold the screen to remove it or rearrange its order. In short, you can directly jump to this by tapping and holding the Home button for few second.
Simple Screen Shots
Press the power button and volume down button simultaneously to capture an image of any screen. You can find the screen shot in the Gallery in the Notifications shade or under Screenshots. This particular feature runs only in the devices running Ice Cream Sandwich or newer versions.
Saving the Battery Life Though a Widget
Now you don’t need to turn off important features by digging through menus to save the battery life. The Power Control widget will do the trick for you. Tap on Widgets in the All Apps page to find this tool. Once you find it tap and hold it to set it on your favorite pages. By tapping this widget once you can turn 5 important features on or off including screen brightness, automatic account syncing, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Shortcut to Contacts
You can contact your favorite people much more easily. Just pin their images on the Home screen. Go to the Contact widget, and it will let you select the name of a person from the contacts list. Contact information along with the photo of that person will be pinned on the Home screen, which will allow you for faster social networking, calling and texting. You can pin four contacts together on the screen using a Favorite Contacts widget
